Punta Dufour - Rey Ridge

Meet with the mountain guide in the early afternoon, check materials and climb to Passo dei Salati (by lifts or 4×4 cab depending on the period).
From here we will begin the trek to the Mantua Hut or Gnifetti Hut depending on the availability of facilities.

The next day breakfast at 3:00 a.m. and departure in the direction of Colle del Lys.
From here we descend a few meters on the Grenz glacier to cross over to the attack spur of the Cresta Rey. The ascent is on classic difficulties (a few °IV pitches) to the summit cross. The descent is on the Italian normal route, not to be underestimated considering the constant exposure. A final ascent leads to Zumstein Peak, m. 4,563, the second 4,000-meter peak of the day. From here we quickly rejoin the trail that descends to Punta Indren  Capanna Margherita per il rientro a valle.

Given the characteristics of the itinerary it is required to know how to move on ridges even exposed with or without crampons, an excellent physical condition and a minimum of acclimatization to the altitude. The hike will only be agreed upon with a minimum of proven and recent mountaineering experience on routes of adequate technical level or a prior evaluation/preparation outing. .
